What Die Casting Does
  • Die casting produces metal parts by injecting molten material into precision molds under high pressure, enabling complex shapes to be formed with excellent dimensional accuracy and surface finish. The process is highly repeatable and well-suited for producing large quantities of parts with consistent quality.
  • Because the material fills the mold under pressure, die casting can create thin walls, fine details, and integrated features that would be difficult or costly to achieve with machining or fabrication. This allows multiple functions to be combined into a single part, reducing the need for assembly and secondary operations.
  • Die casting is particularly effective for components that require a balance of strength, weight reduction, and surface quality, especially when parts need to be produced at scale with tight control over dimensions.
  • Compared to other metal forming methods, die casting offers high production efficiency, good surface finish (often reducing post-processing), and stable unit cost in volume production, though it requires upfront tooling investment.
Specifications
Materials Suitable fo r Die Casting  Process:

  Characteristics Typical Applications
Aluminum Alloys Most common, best overall performance. Lightweight, high strength, good thermal conductivity, corrosion resistant, dimensionally stable. Engine blocks, transmission housings, 3C electronic enclosures, heat sinks, telecom equipment housings.
Zinc Alloys Highest precision, easiest to surface finish. Low melting point, excellent fluidity, can cast extremely thin walls (<1mm), long die life, easy to plate/paint. Precision electronics (connectors, locks), bathroom hardware, toys, decorative parts, automotive door handles.
